Female Betta fish with bilateral popeye?
I've had this fish for almost a year and so far she has been healthy. Well, until yesterday, that is. She developed sudden bilateral popeye and seems to be having trouble surfacing for air. She is being kept in a smaller 'hospital tank' with a low water level so she can breathe. I'm currently treating her with some Betta Revive until I can get something stronger. For now she seems pretty stable but she lays around on the ground a lot and her breathing is labored. I am amazed that she is even still alive, considering the fact that her health deteriorated so rapidly. Can anyone help me, or give me advice on what to do? I would prefer for other betta owners only to respond, but if anyone has any form of acceptable advice, I will take what I can get.
try adding aquarium salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gallons) to prevent any infection and strengthen the immune system. a 25% water change and temperature of 80 degrees will also help.
