Why is my Betta Fish Man trying to kill my female Betta Fish?

few days ago i bought a male betta fish i named Gaylord. today i was in a pet store is sumthing i need for a pet and a clerk told me that u can put a male betta 2gether and female, and they will not fight n can mate. So I bought a sushi i called and they all seemed well at first but would gaylord sumtimes flare its gills and I took it as an act of reproduction. i left alone to return to him the fight. Now his fins are torn and I feel really bad. so why did he do this? i would never be able to put a differnt man with a woman? it is definitely a woman

You should not have a male with a female. I used to raise them. Essentially to distinguish between the two men will have more of a color larger fins. The female has less color but still colorful and small fins. The only time you should have a female with a man is when you recurrence. And reproduce time-consuming and you have a bunch of proccese before letting them in the same tank together. Males should be kelp alone but females can be kept with other women, sometimes after the females have been quiet for a while but they can fight with other women too. More once they have been bred if you have a fry success .. you can have up to 150 fish, as I think .. or something, it was a sine then I've done ... I still have a load of crap beta fish but I do not breed more.
