my goldfish and koi in my new pond do not move from the bottom unless for feeding and then they go back, why?
I have recently installed a large pond in my garden and have 2 pumps, a biological filter and uv clarifer fitted, the water discharges back from the filter via a waterfall and an outlet pipe on the surface, i have added 3 koi (approx 6 inches) 6 comets (about 5 inches) and a couple of small comets, the problem is that the fish just lie on the bottom of the pond and do not move at all except for feeding time, and after they have fed they go straight to the bottom and hide behind plants etc. one of the comets keeps trying to beach itself on a ledge and all of the fish look lifeless, has anybody any tips please, as i do want the fish to be happy and swim as fish should do. many thanks
the pond was cycled for about 3 weeks and the fish have been introduced gradually, the pond plants are all around the ledge on one side and 2 floating plants, but the fish seem to hide anywhere they can low down, the comet is a large fish which keeps beaching itself, thanks for yo help
Did you do research at all? you have to cycle the pond for 3-6 weeks for bacteria to build up!!!
